Q: Does anyone know where I can find a Small NIV Bible?
I am interested in purchasing a small, almost pocket size Bible to carry with me wherever I go. I owuld like it to be NIV and not a study bible or anything. Just a plain NIV Bible. It would also be a plus if it was not too expensive. Any help would be appreciated!
A: Christian book stores carry many sizes and versions. Also try Amazon and eBay or Half.com
Most Calvary Chapels have bookstores. Try the one in your area.
Christian bookstores in my are area called:
Berean Christian Bookstore
Selah Christian Books (this music store is caled SoundTheology, which I think is a pretty cool name).
Cornerstone Bookstore
Or try http://www.cbd.com
Q: Does anyone know where I can get a free niv bible I want to send it to my friend in prison in Norco?
I have a friend who is currently in prison in Norco, California I would like to send him a Niv Bible does anyone know where I can get one and if I can is legal to send it to him?
A: Sorry if this throws a hitch into your plans. First, it is not only legal for inmates to receive bibles, it is Constitutionally defended by the Supreme Court. But, few correctional institutions allow private individuals to send in books of any kind. The book would have to be sent in from a publisher or retailer directly. Zondervan's in Grand Rapids, Michigan (http://www.zondervan.com/cultures/en-us/home.htm ) might help you with this. Contact them via the website, scroll to the bottom and you'll see it. Just ask them. They have done it before.
Thank you for doing this.
Q: Why are verses missing out of the NIV Bible?
Who decided to take these out and what was their reasoning? Doesn't the Bible specifically say not to add to or take away from it?
A: Certain passages are disputed by the translators whether they should be included or not because they are not in all the manuscripts. Translators are very careful in translating and do not arbitrarily take verses out of the Bible. Thus, you never find verses "missing" just out of the whim of the translator.
I would, however suggest that you include them anyway, and just get a translation that includes them. Try e-sword Bible software. It's free: http://www.e-sword.net
By the way, that first answer is incorrect. The NIV IS a word for word translation, not a paraphrase.
Q: Why do people think the NIV bible is wrong?
Why do u think its wrong? KJV is a translation from the Hebrew version. The words in your bible arent the words Jesus spoke. He spoke Hebrew. Please give me your opinion.
A: The KJV is probably the closest modern version to the original Hebrew. However, even the KJV is different in meaning of many of the original Hebrew words. To truly understand God's Word, it should be studied with Hebrew commentary.
Many call the NIV - Nearly Inspired Version. And this is because many of the words are similar, but not the same when compared to what was originally said in Hebrew. And all it takes to make an entire different meaning is to change one jot or one tittle (vowel). That can be a very dangerous thing to do, as we're told in the last couple of verses of Revelation.

Q: Where can I get a free NIV bible software?
Or if there's none, what would be the best translation of the bible(in english) to read?
I already have e-sword still you have to pay for the NIV translation. Thank you. :)
A: NIV is copyrighted by a company because they made the translation.
Many bible programs offer NIV for an extra charge.
There is also the NIV online you can read.
For a program to download you can check out esword.

Q: Why do the same company that publishes the NIV bible publishes a satanic bible?
Search in Google: NIV Bible satanic
The first question was excluded
A: companies enjoy money...
Q: How do I convince my son he is reading the wrong Bible (NIV) to my grandchildren ?
The King James Version is the one he should use, but when I visited him I noticed he was using the New International Version. This version leaves out many passages, because it is based on corrupted manuscripts.
A: explain that to him, just as you said it. If he still chooses to use the New International Version it is his choice. they are his children and what ever way he choose to teach them of religon is his choice.
Q: Can i get an NIV bible for my ipod?
I want an all text version of the NIV bible that I can put on my ipod. I don't want the TNIV, I want the NIV. I haven't been able to find it anywhere.
A: if you can find the NIV Bible in mp3 format then you can but there is a chance right now that you can not get it yet
other then that you will just have to do some searching for it
Q: What is the scripture in the NIV Bible that say something like...?
What is the scripture in the NIV Bible that says something like: "BLANK can come inside the tent in the BLANK when he is clean, it says something like that. Where can I find it? Thanks.
No, I think it has something to do with ejaculation or something...
A: Leviticus 14:8
"The person to be cleansed must wash his clothes, shave off all his hair and bathe with water; then he will be ceremonially clean. After this he may come into the camp, but he must stay outside his tent for seven days.
Q: Why does the niv bible have so many licensing restrictions on it?
I've been llooking for sum decent bible software and whenever i come across really good freeware/shareware ones, niv isnt on it because they supposedly "own" rights to it????
What brand of bible is the one that you sumtimes see old guys handing out for free, is it niv? if it is, is that illegal?
Also, why dont the niv guys just give away their translation for free? will they lose too much money are sumthing?
A: I would not be too worried, the NIV is a horrible trans.
For instance look how the NIV handles the translation of the verse found at John 1:18:
KJV - Jhn 1:18 - No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared [him].

Q: What is/are the differences between the KJV Bible and the NIV Bible?
What is/are the differences between the King James Version (KJV) of the Bilbe and the New International Version (NIV) of the Bible?
A: KJV is old English
NIV is more to the English here in the US, or not as proper..LOL, it is broken down to better understand, I have a Bible that has 4 versions to it, and I go from one to the other to compare and also online
Q: Why do the verse numbers in a KJV Bible not always match those in the NIV and NASB Bibles?
Some KJV verses don't appear at all in other Bibles. And vice versa. Why is this?
A: Actually, the three that you mention the King James Version (KJV), the New International Version and the New American Standard Bible - all use the same verse/chapter division (many others do not use that division).
What scholars have discovered in the 400 years since the KJV is that older manuscripts do not include many of the verses that were found in the source used for the KJV. In other words, the source text for the KJV included unauthentic additions made centuries after the authors must have been dead.
Because the KJV translators had no way of knowing that these unauthentic additions were present, they are included in the KJV (and in most or all other bibles of the period as well).
Now that scholars have verified that some of the passages found in the KJV are unauthentic additions to the text, they put those unauthentic additions into the footnotes - often "removing" entire verse, at other times "removing" only parts of verses.
The important point is: the modern translations are not *really* "removing" passages: instead, they are not including passages that never existed in the original texts.
You will find that nearly all of these "additions" are what is known as a "gloss" - an explanation added into the text from another Scripture. So, nearly all of the unauthentic additions present in the KJV and other very old bibles have no effect whatsoever on Christian doctrine. (I would say that *none* of them affect Christian doctrine.)

Q: What Roman emperors ruled during the time of the New Testament in the Bible? (Christian Bible) NIV?
I'm doing this bible timeline project for school, and I was wondering (question above) if anyone could help me out? If you could type them all out (not likely :) or give me a website to go to, that would help me out alot. And it has to be just the Roman Emperors during the New Testamental period. Thanks a bunch.
A: If one takes the NT as being an accurate historical account (and I don't):
Augustus, the first emperor, was ruling at the time of the birth of Jesus. His reign was from 27 BC - 14 AD
Tiberius, stepson of Augustus, was the emperor most referenced in the NT, as he was Caesar while Jesus was an adult and at the time of the crucifiction. His reign was from 14 - 37 AD.
Peter and Paul were martyred during the reign of the Emperor Nero. Nero is also accused of persecuting the Christians in Rome, blaming them for the great fire of 64 A.D. and having them thrown to the lions in the Circus Maximus. Nero reigned from 54 - 68 AD
In between Tiberius and Nero were Caligula (37 - 41 AD) and Claudius (41 - 54 AD), but neither had significant impact on the growing Christian movement of the time, of which they likely weren't very aware. Caligula was Tiberius' nephew, and Claudius was Caligula's uncle. Nero was the son of Claudius' fourth wife, Agrippinilla, who also happened to be the niece of Claudius. Nero supplanted Claudius' own son Britannicus as the emperor's heir.
More info than you wanted. :)
