Q: MORMON Religion?
I had a question about the mormon religion..I think I've always heard wrong information about mormons so can someone please tell me about the mormon religion? I'm just curious and would like to learn. Theres stereotypes in every religion but can someone name a few of the mormon ones and say if theyre true or not? Thanks
A: The Bible says about religion
James 1: 27
27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
Joseph Smith said
"We are to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to provide for the widow, to dry up the tear of the orphan, to comfort the afflicted, whether in this church, or in any other, or in no church at all, wherever we find them."
To me it is all about putting faith into practice.
Q: Anyone of the Mormon religion willing to do an interview?
i need an to do an interview on someone of the the Mormon religion.
this is for school.
A: I have been a happy Mormon for over forty years. Like most of us, I LOVE to talk about my faith.
E-mail me. I'll even pay for the call.
You might be happier talking to someone face to face. Just look around your school for some cute guy in a BYU sweatshirt.
Q: What is you opinion about the Mormon Religion?
I want to know what you know and understand about the mormon religion.
A: KIMBERLY!
Do not take these statements from those Anti-Mormons to heart. Read what I have to say. Please. (This is an edit- I have just found a question that says you are a Mormon. I may have misunderstood your question...)
I am sixteen years old. I was born into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (commonly called Mormon, for obvious reasons). And my life is noticeably happier than those of most any other kids I have met. I have a great life.
Our religion is a christian-based one, with additional doctrine that we believe to have come from god. We believe in a having a loving, supporting family. We believe in high standards. We believe in doing our best. Let me start at the beginning.
Standards: We do not drink any alcohol at all, we do no drugs, we never look a pornography, and we dress modestly. Life is just so much easier when those things don't screw it up. We are also respectful and kind to others. But we are not perfect. We all have slip-ups. But we do try our best, and it usually is enough.
A rundown: In the beginning, before even where the Bible begins, we existed. Not as humans or even spirits, but as just ourselves. I dunno what it was like. God took spiritual matter, and wrapped it around us to make us into spirits. He made Jesus first. Jesus was and is the first son of god. After that, came the plan of Salvation.
The plan was simple: Jesus makes the Earth under his Father's guidance, we go to it and get human bodies. We Live righteously to prove our worthiness, then die. We then get resurrected, obtain perfected bodies, and go to live with god and Jesus forever in heaven. If we were good enough, we get to progress forever and become gods eventually. But there are only two gods now. God, our Eternal father in heaven and Jesus Christ, our elder brother and Savior. For the plan of salvation, the atonement was also vital.
God: God is an eternal, glorified, perfected being, who made all that is. His love is endless, his power infinite, and his justice perfect. Heis the father of Jesus, all humans (me and you), and one other. He loves each and every person, without end.
Jesus: Jesus is our eldest brother, the one who made the earth and us. He died on the cross for us, after taking upon him the sins of the world. This act was the atonement, and is the single most important event ever to take place on Earth.
Satan: Satan is the father of all lies, the origin of deceit, the master of malice, and the most evil entity in the Universe. He is also god's son, and the brother of Jesus.
In order for the plan of salvation to work, the atonement had to be done. God asked in heaven, for someone who would be willing to take upon him the wrongs of mankind. Satan, then called Lucifer, said he would. He also said that he wished to have the glory and credit. This was absolutely unacceptable. Jesus said "Father, send me and the glory be thine." Jesus became our savior. But Lucifer was not done. He said that rather than give men free agency, or the ability to choose for themselves, he should force us to do what is right. This was wrong. How can someone be called pure when the can't do anything but right? Where is the sense in that? After being denied, Lucifer did the single most incredibly stupid, idiotic thing ever to be done in the history of eternity: He rebelled against god. He actually rebelled against the most powerful, perfect, divine, loving person in the Universe. And he then became Satan. He was able to convince one entire third of the spirits of heaven (all those who ever have or ever will be born) to see things his way. Him and his new 'dark angels' were banished to outer darkness, a place devoid of god's divine influence. Ever since Satan has tried to tempt us into evil. He is smart. He knows the game. He does every possible thing to drag us down. He does this by putting thoughts into your head (not that he can mess with your brain).
The Atonement: Jesus went to a sacred place, after being born and growing up, and prayed to god. God then placed upon him the sins of the world. And not just this world. What Jesus actually did was suffer for every single pain and form of harm, mentally and physically, that any child of god to ever exist would ever experience. At this point, Jesus was a half god. He was divine, but earth-bound. He thought he knew what was coming. But even with his unique intellect, Jesus was not able to completely comprehend how much it was. He bled from every pore. Kneeling there in the sacred garden, Jesus, the perfect person, said the equivalent of: "Daddy... this hurts. Daddy... make it stop."
I can not imagine how hard it must have been for Heavenly Father (our common name for god), whose love we cannot fathom, who then was just a helpless father watching his own son writhe in pain, to not be able to comfort Jesus. The atonement was vital. It had to be done. God couldn't stop it.
After several minutes of total silence from his father, Jesus manged to say "Nonetheless.. not my will, but thine." After that experience, Jesus was killed on the cross in one of the most brutal fashions known in history today. Crucifixion. It was not easy to die that way at all. But it wasn't nearly as bad as the pain of all mankind. Still, Jesus was the son of god. He let himself die. But before doing so, even while all the watching people mocking him, he said to his father in heaven: "Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do."
He then let his spirit go to heaven, and the comfort of his daddy's arms.
I want to bear my testimony to you, that I know my church is true. I KNOW it. I have felt it. I have felt the spirit of god. The church brings my life so much happiness and joy. It would do so for you if you would give it a chance. I am not brainwashed. My church is so great. We are the very first to help those in need. We donate so much. Because we have love. We believe in becoming like Jesus. We aren't gonna die on a cross, but we will do what we can to be perfect. If you have any more questions, please e-mail me from my profile. Also try reading the Book of Mormon. It's at the library. One question you may have is what was the atonement for? Justice had to be satisfied. If we sin, we are unclean. No unclean thing can be in the Kingdom og God. Mercy and and justice work together though. But Mercy requires a third player. It required Jesus, someone perfect, who had never sinned, to suffer for us. To fulfill justice. Now, when we sin, we can repent. If we are truly sorry and want to do better, the we just pray and say sorry, and it is like we never sinned at all. That doesn't mean get drunk and do perverted things your whole life, then repent before dying. That doesn't work. We must have pure hearts. No unclean thing may dwell in the kingdom of god. And also, because of this, just believing in Christ will not put you in heaven. You really have to be pure in deed as well. In fact, if you never even heard of god, be never sinned either, you'd go straight to heaven. Hell is reserved for the worst of the worst. Those who know that Jesus is the way, and who choose to deny him for a life of temporal evil and satisfaction.
One last thing. When people get married civil-style, the vows got 'until death do you part'. But we Mormons marry in the Temple. We get married for time and all eternity. Families can be together forever, through Heavenly Father's plan.
This important for me. I am writing this past midnight. Please try the church. Just the Book of Mormon. It is true.
I say this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Q: Does anyone know how the Mormon religion came into being?
I am reading a book right now about some of the crimes committed by Fundamentalist Mormons that believe in polygamy. There is several chapter that talk about how Joseph Smith started the Mormon religion.
Without the golden plates ever being seen by others how do Mormons believe in him and his doctrine?
What do you know about the faith?
A: As another has stated, there were actually 12 witnesses to the plates from which the Book of Mormon were translated. Also, Joseph Smith didn't necessarily "start" the Mormon religion, but was a prophet called by God to lead the restored church of Jesus Christ, as was set up by Christ in the Bible; he was a tool in Gods hands. He was like prophets of old, spreading the world of God. Lastly, because religion (ALL) is faith based, you can not count on objective or factual evidence to be the foundation of your belief. Just like you likely haven't seen God, but may still believe He exists, we must have faith and seek confirmation from God through the Holy Spirit and prayer.
Q: How often have your answers to questions concerning the Mormon religion been deleted?
Many of my answers about my personal experiences with the Mormon church have been deleted. I have used only my personal experiences and references from church history and doctrine to prove my point.
Mormons are obviously complaining because they do not understand the dark history behind their religion.
Do moderators actually read the questions they are deleting or just delete anything that is flagged? Do they delete questions because of their own personal biases or is the Mormon church putting pressure on them not to expose the truth?
True Scottsman, my nickname has to do with the abundant love and blessings of the universe, TRUTH is part of that. I am speaking and sharing my personal truth with others. How is that ironic?
Miranda, how is asking and answering a question truthfully, picking on Mormons?
French, you may have inherited some prejudiced outlooks from your LDS roots. I am not a single mom and have never taken church hand outs. I have never went back to the church for *guidance* as you put it. My children and I are happy to be out of the Mormon church and are only trying to figure out how we got there in the first place. If you know your history and have LDS roots then why are you not a member and what exactly is your point?
A: Mine get deleated often, Mormons don't like being questioned and take it personally, because there isn't a logical defence for many of thier beliefs. As a result they get very defensive and take every question or answer that doesn't tow the line as an offence.
There aren't enought employees at Yahoo to deal with all the abuse tattle tales out there, so there is an automatically generated process that erases your question and sends you a link to try and correct it.
Q: is it true that the mormon religion believes that black people are a cursed race?
please correct me if i am wrong. thanks a bunch.
A: "From the days of the Prophet Joseph Smith even until now, it has been the doctrine of the Church, never questioned by church leaders, that the Negroes are not entitled to the full blessings of the gospel." (Statement of The First Presidency on the Negro Question, July 17, 1947, quoted in Mormonism and the Negro pp.46-7)
There is also plenty of Mormom scripture which backs up the notion:
1 Nephi 11:8 And it came to pass that the Spirit said unto me: Look! And I looked and beheld a tree; and it was like unto the tree which my father had seen; and the beauty thereof was far beyond, yea, exceeding of all beauty; and the whiteness thereof did exceed the whiteness of the driven snow.
1 Nephi 11:13 And I beheld the city of Nazareth; and in the city of Nazareth I beheld a virgin, and she was exceedingly fair and white.
1 Nephi 12:23 And it came to pass that I beheld, after they had dwindled in unbelief they became a dark, and loathsome, and a filthy people, full of idleness and all manner of abominations. (Joe Smith calls dark skinned people ugly, filthy, lazy, and perverts.)
1 Nephi 13:15 And I beheld the Spirit of the Lord, that it was upon the Gentiles, and they did prosper and obtain the land for their inheritance; and I beheld that they were white, and exceedingly fair and beautiful, like unto my people before they were slain.
2 Nephi 5:21 For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto a flint; wherefore, as they were white, and exceedingly fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them.
2 Nephi 30:6 And then shall they rejoice; for they shall know that it is a blessing unto them from the hand of God; and their scales of darkness shall begin to fall from their eyes; and many generations shall not pass away among them, save they shall be a pure white (1830 edition) and a delightsome people.
Jacob 3:8 O my brethren, I fear that unless ye shall repent of your sins that their skins will be whiter than yours, when ye shall be brought with them before the throne of God.
Alma 3:6 And the skins of the Lamanites were dark, according to the mark which was set upon their fathers, which was a curse upon them because of their transgression and their rebellion against their brethren, who consisted of Nephi, Jacob, and Joseph, and Sam, who were just and holy men.
3 Nephi 2:15 And their curse was taken from them, and their skin became white like unto the Nephites.
Mormon 5:15 And also that the seed of this people may more fully believe his gospel, which shall go forth unto them from the Gentiles; for this people shall be scattered, and shall become a dark, a filthy, and a loathsome people, beyond the description of that which ever hath been amongst us, yea, even that which hath been among the Lamanites, and this because of their unbelief and idolatry.
A "new revelation" has "reinterpreted" this doctrine. In 1998, a small group of Mormons (most of them white) asked if the Church would repudiate the Curse of Cain (people of 'dark' races) doctrine and say that the Priesthood-ban was in fact an 'unfortunate mistake'. The Church did not do this, but rather told reporters and others that they would let the 1978 Revelation "speak for itself". Some Mormons consider the 1978 Revelation to be an 'apology'. Others don't see it that way at all. Scripture has been changed in newer editions of the book of Morman that reflects the 1978 decision. The Church apparently leaves it up to each individual to interpret it for themselves.
Q: Why are so many people against the Mormon religion?
I am a Morman and I know that people have rejected Mormons all the time and I would just like to know why.
A: I am against religion in general, but I have a dislike for the Mormon church and its leaders in particular because, in my experience, they are dishonest, aggressive, controlling and emotionally abusive toward their members. Not to mention that the doctrine is so silly and obviously made-up that it boggles my mind that so many otherwise intelligent people actually buy into it.
Note that I am talking about the Mormon religion/leaders here, not Mormons as people. I know and like lots of Mormons, including some of my dearest loved ones. I just wish they hadn't been taken in by a destructive cult. Which, in my opinion, is what the Mormon church is.
Q: Anyone know of online chat room or support group for persons leaving the Mormon religion?
or a chat room for a stay at home mom to go that is going to have to find a whole new circle of friends? She is happily married.
A: Angel, welcome to the club. For years the biggest discussion board for former Mormons was at exmormon.org. That's still a big one, but be warned it's a rowdy place with lots of venting, cussing, and demonizing of the Mormon faith. A much less raucous place is the board at PostMormon.org, which is also now the biggest I believe. It's less about Mormon bashing and more about building a community. That's the first place I'd suggest you visit.
And since you mentioned chat rooms, I'll plug one other ex-Mormon group that's smaller but more erudite and lots of fun: thefoyer.org. They are very accepting of newcomers and have a chat room along with the regular discussion forum.
You're going to be OK.

Q: How is the Mormon religion different from the Lutheran religion?
please no mean answers.....i am lutheran so no mean comments about that....
I NEED SPECIFIC DETAILS TOO!!!
OH AND TO CHRISTINE: no!!!!
A: you said you're lutheran, so you know what we believe (i'm LCMS Lutheran). the mormons believe Jesus came to the americas and taught the indians that all the christian churches had it wrong. they follow the book of mormon, which contradicts the bible, believe they will become gods, God was adam at one time, Jesus and satan are brothers... there are tons of reasons why the mormons are not considered christian. they're considered a cult. if you want details, type ''mormon'' in the search engine in this website:
http://www.gotquestions.org
Q: What do people of other religions think of the Mormon religion?
I haven't met alot of people in other religions, and was curious what your opinions were of this Mormon church?
A: I wouldn't put alot of stock in the impressions of the Church you get here from the R&S whackjobs. It in no way represents any slice of reality.
Q: What is the religion Mormon and scientiologist and wicca?
what are all those religioins and do any of them believe in God?
A: All three very different. I'll let the Mormons answer for themselves but yes, they believe in God. Scientology is also better answered by someone more knowledgeable on the subject. I honestly don't know what exactly they believe in.
I can give you an answer on Wicca though since I am Wiccan.
Wicca is a religion. Some Wiccans are initiated into traditions and work in covens, others are solitary. There is a decent amount of leeway within Wicca as far as beliefs and practices as there is no one book of doctrine or high up official that decides what is Wicca and what is not. However, there are core tenets of the religion and Wicca is not a “make it up as you go” religion. The core tenets of the religion are:
1. Honor the gods. Which gods are honored and how they are honored exactly will vary depending on the tradition and/or individual Wiccan.
2. Acknowledge the Sabbats. The Sabbats are seasonal celebrations. How these are celebrated will vary.
3. Embrace the Wiccan Rede which states: An it harm none, do as you will.
There is much more that could be written about these 3 tenets and much more to the religion. If you are interested in more information, a good resource for accurate information online is - http://wicca.timerift.net
Q: What's the difference between Christianity and the Mormon religion?
I was talking about my religion (Christianity) with a couple of my friends the other day, and they believed in everything I did. A few days later, I found out they were Mormons. This confused me. I thought they were totally separate religions. Other than a few technical issues, like not being allowed to date until you are 16, what are the differences?
What I do know about it: they DO believe in the Bible and follow it's teachings, but they believe in other documents/books they consider Holy as well.
I'm not trying to criticize Mormons or offend them. I'm sorry if this is what it looks like.
A: The main difference I have noticed lately between us as Mormons and other Christians is that we as Mormons believe God is the author of more revelation than is contained in the Bible. For some reason some people think God stopped talking, but we believe that there is a living prophet today, and that God uses a prophet to teach His will. You are, of course, allowed to pray to Heavenly Father to get your own answers. We believe in the Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine & Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price, as well as what has been revealed to a modern prophet and apostles. We believe in the same organization that existed in Christ's early church and have 12 living apostles who have had a special witness of Jesus Christ Himself. We have an interesting doctrine called the doctrine of the premortal life - which means that instead of just showing up at some point during your mother's pregnancy, you actually lived and existed before in a place where you grew and developed to the point that you were ready to come to earth to learn more about physical and spiritual laws. This doctrine is so powerful that if people really understood it, they would know that they have amazing divine potential within themselves as children of God. In my opinion, Mormons are like the honors class of Christianity, because we have to study not just the Bible, but 3 other books of scripture plus what the modern-day prophets have said as well. We are also a temple-going people. We believe that because of the Priesthood of God, a man and a woman may be married (in the temple) not just until death do you part, but for all eternity if both parties remain true to their covenants. There are other differences, but you can always check out www.lds.org to learn more. Have a happy day, and I send you a virtual gummy bear.
Q: What other tenant of the Mormon religion do the Mormons want to force on Americans?
A: Did you mean "tenet"?
The church donated exactly $2,078.97 in total expenditures.
People that go to that church donated around $20-25 million and a lot of hours. Had the church done any more that, then they would have been in violation of law.
To repeat: the church gave less than 0.01% of the funding. People of that faith gave about 60-70% of the funding.
If you're saying that mainstream Christians, Mormons, Jews, and Muslims aren't American because they support what is taught in scripture and has been taught for over 6,000 years, then I don't know what else to say.
Q: I would like to know how the mormon religion attach u when u r going to missionary?
i mean the country or the state im not still mormon but missionarys come to my house and talk to me u would reccomend me to convert me to a mormon
A: If you are asking "which country" do Mormon missionaries get assigned to, their assignment comes from the prophet, the leader of the LDS Church.
Q: How much of the Mormon religion is based on that episode of south park?
i saw that episode of south park where adam smith reads the new bible out of a hat is that actually true? and does the religion belive that adam and eve lived in jackson county missouri??
A: 100%
