Q: Muslim prayer?
I don't know how to properly word this, so please be polite and try to understand what I am asking. Can someone list the tools/guidelines for Muslim prayer, particularly the prayer area? What makes an area an acceptable place for prayer and what makes it unacceptable? For example, if I were to set up a place for Muslims to pray at my house or work place, how would I do that?

A: peace Belinda28, the prophet (peace be upon him) has informed the muslims: "The whole earth was been created as a place of worship, pure and clean." like others have mentioned cleanliness is important. also the room should not have pictures of animate objects or idols and statues. since muslims kneel and prostrate during prayers some people prefer to cover the hard floor with a prayer rug or clean sheet of cloth, to make the process more comfortable. see how muslims pray here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2R445ekm5QI&feature=related ideally, the room should not be very noisy; there is no problem if voices carry over just as long as they are not very distracting. muslim face the direction of the kaaba in mecca while praying. if you have the direction marked this will be very helpful. you can find the direction in your locality here: http://islamicfinder.org finally, before muslims pray, they ritually cleanse themselves with water. access to a nearby washroom will be appreciated. muslims wash hands, face, arms and feet during the ablution. see here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=XwXbRsE-xKY&feature=related hope this helps

Q: How is the space in a mosque designed to facilitate Muslim prayer and worship?
How is the space in a mosque designed to facilitate Muslim prayer and worship? Hi... I need some help I was just wondering... Love Islamic architecture but know little about the use of space and why. Can you help me out? Thanks.

A: I dont know anything great about architecture, but I can tell you that Muslims are required to pray in the Direction of Ka'aba (Mecca). And in a congregation all men stand together to pray in rows, straight lines, one behind the other. This is to promote unity and brotherhod and order. There is an imam who leads the prayer. So keeping this in mind, if you have to design a room you will of course first of all check the direction. The room in order to be straight is often made a little obliquely so that those come to pray have no difficulty. The have to stand facing the front wall and they are automatically facing the the direction of the Ka'aba. Because this has been taken care of during construction. The engineers design the room facing the Ka'aba. Hope this helped. TW K

Q: A man who regarded calls for Muslim prayer the most beautiful sound on Earth decided to switch to?
A man who regarded calls for Muslim prayer the most beautiful sound on Earth decided to switch to Trinity Church of Christ. Is it reasonable to conclude that he liked the sound of the minster preaching even more beautiful?

A: Seven year old comments by former pastor Wright, taken out of context, are not an issue except to the few desperate mud slingers with nothing to throw. Nobody seemed upset when Robertson and Falwell said hurricane Katrina was retribution against the U.S. by God.

Q: Question for Muslims. What does the Muslim prayer mean to you?
what does muslim prayer (salah) mean to you? i interviewed a bunch of americans and now I would like some opinions from muslims. please give your opinion, and say what country you live in.

A: I feel it is like a tuning fork for musical instruments. It helps you stay attuned to God, to rememeber your place in the world. As it is said in the Qur'an, "I did not creat jinn nor man but to worship Me". You know, when I found this phrase I stoped searching for the meaning/purpose of life. Prayer brings peace to the soul.

Q: Does anyone know where I can find Muslim prayer music?
Or just any other kind of muslim music. Please and thank you.

A: You definately won't find prayers and music together, it's actually forbidden. But I think you mean Nasheeds. Religious songs without the music. This one is my favorite. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WY9K0CNnMb8 For ones in English just type in Zain Bhika, and David Wharnsby.

Q: Where is the sheet music for the Muslim Call to Prayer?
I'm a choral conductor starting research on the music of Islam and would like my choir to perform the Call to Prayer. If that is not appropriate, then other sacred Muslim music. But I have no idea where to begin. Can anyone help me?

A: No, the call to prayer would not be appropriate for your choir. And there is no sheet music for it either. This website provides sheet music for some Muslim songs: http://www.britishmuslimsong.co.uk/oriental.htm

Q: Proved that haven your head in muslim prayer mode with your head on the ground is a ground for negative Energy?
Now you can go ask any non believer doctor they will tell you the results from a Muslim in Sajud (prostration) will show electrons leaving the central lobe of the brain and grounding out to the elements around it. So then, what have you say to yourself regarding that proof. Don't believe me, go check it out. Spiderman

A: Salaam!! good gob bro!!

Q: How does one respectfuly allow muslim prayer during work hours?
How does one do this? Should there be a space blocked off? Do we get rugs? The company is medium sized with a lot of space available. Any imput is appreciated. Thanks Thanks for the ideas. I had planned on calling the local Imam, but did not want to sound ignorant on the issue. The reason that I ask about the rugs (that sounds... well uninformed) is that we have noticed the workers bringing small cloths with them during break time to pray. Well thanks to everyone for the great responses.

A: I would ask the employee who is requesting prayer time to give a name and phone number of his mosque / religeous leader. And ask them to help you with the issue of how to set it up properly. Edit - If nothing else, set aside a single room as an empty space and make sure NOTHING is put in there . Use it for prayers, group activites / whatever, but always leave it bare otherwise.

Q: What makes a Muslim woman want to lead congregational prayer, even though she knows it's not allowed?
Islamic law does not permit a woman to lead mixed congregational prayer, and whoever acts against this is not a proper Muslim. Still why does this issue come up? And this has nothing to do with women's rights.

A: Her pride and arrogance. Shes just too proud and shes ignoring religious rules. Its just like now how we have Catholic female priests, when that wouldn't normally be allowed.

Q: Do you favor prayer in Public School, if so, what about Muslim prayer?
An amendment allowing prayer in public schools could also authorize a Muslim prayer if they have enough political power in America in the future. Think about it Christians.

A: If you want your kid to pray in school, then pay the money and send your kid to a private/parochial school. End of story.

Q: How do you know which way to face during muslim prayer?
I know you face mecca, but when you move or take a trip how do you know which way to face- use a compass?

A: => Use a compass. => With the sun as a reference point, do the best in guessing the direction. => If the above two are not possible, as a last resort a person can face in any direction as long as he or she has the true and earnest intention of offering the prayer.

Q: What is the daily prayer ritual that is carried out by Muslim women called?
There is a prayer ritual that I have seen a few seconds of on TV. It is incredibly beautiful and graceful. The Muslim woman carries it out in stages. Please explain step by step and the meaning. Thank you.

A: Du'a: (duʿa), individual prayers of petition of Muslim women. Example: Du'a by Yahya Hawwa (.mp3) -- http://www.sparklywater.com/files/other/hawwadua.mp3 ***In Islam there are nine pre-conditions that need to be present in order for a du'a to be accepted. 1. The realization that only God responds to a du'a. 2. Sincerity in Du'a to God alone 3. Perform Tawassul Properly 4. Lack of Hastiness 5. Du'a for things that are good 6. To Have Good Intentions 7. The Presence of An Attentive Heart 8. Purity of One's Sustenance; and 9. That the Du'a Does not Interfere With Something More Important For step-by-step meaning of the ritual as carried out in each stage of prayer, refer to the link below : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Du'a

Q: Hey Muslims, if there's a room for Muslim prayer INSIDE a church/chapel, is your prayer valid?
Just wondering, cause they have that in my Mum's hospital, and we're having a little debate

A: The Muslims should strive as much as they can to build their own places of worship, which should be built according to Islamic sharee’ah, structurally sound, without extravagance or decoration. If the Muslims cannot build their own mosques and they need a place to pray, and they cannot find anywhere other than a church, then “hiring churches to pray in them is not forbidden in sharee’ah if it is necessary, but praying towards statues and pictures should be avoided, and they should be covered or concealed if they are in the direction of the qiblah.”

Q: If Obama gets elected is he going to give a Muslim Prayer Mat to every household?

A: probably he is giving everything else away

Q: Prayer rooms for Muslim students in Catholic schools? Will this promote religious tolerance or antagonize?
http://www.mailonsunday.co.uk/news/article-1091218/Muslim-prayer-rooms-opened-Catholic-schools-say-church-leaders.html

A: Why would it antagonize? It's a hugely considerate gesture. It's not putting anyone down. It's just providing amenities for a certain group that desires it.
